Erik Seest advises and represents national and international companies on all aspects of patent law. His practice focuses on infringement and validity proceedings. He represents patent holders as well as companies facing allegations of patent infringement, in particular before German courts and the Unified Patent Court (UPC).
Erik Seest is both an attorney-at-law and a geoscientist (B.Sc.). Before studying law at LMU Munich, he completed his degree in geosciences at the University of Göttingen with distinction. While still at university, he gained practical experience in patent law at an internationally operating energy company. His scientific training gave him a solid grounding in mathematics, physics and chemistry, with a particular focus on geophysics and geochemistry. This interdisciplinary background gives him direct access to particularly complex technical issues, well beyond these fields.
A year abroad in New Zealand and Australia shaped his international perspective early on. He completed his legal traineeship at the Higher Regional Court of Munich. Since May 2026, he has been part of AMPERSAND's patent law team.
